Strings for Sight is led and was created by Rithvik Raguram. He states “I have always been really interested in the eyes. I used to make frequent trips to my local ophthalmologist due to my incessant vision problems. A few years ago, I made a trip to India, and as I was walking down the street, I stopped by an Indian carpet store. I saw a man in the back skilfully crafting a carpet, so I asked the woman who was selling the carpets how the man got so skilled. She said that as a young boy, he had terrible eyesight. He wasn’t able to see the board, and he had a hard time keeping up with his fellow students, so eventually the boy dropped out, and had been working as a carpet maker ever since. It was on that day that I knew that the mass lack of access to eye care needed to be fixed”
